Eleni Stylianou

Postdoctoral Researcher

Eleni Stylianou (female, post-doctoral researcher) is an Agriculturist with a BSc in Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology and Food Science from the Cyprus University of Technology, Cyprus (2014) and Master of Science (2017) in ‘Food Bioprocesses and Biorefineries’ from the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. Her PhD from Agricultural University of Athens, Greece (2021) focused on the study of succinic acid production via fermentation using the organic fraction of municipal solid waste and process development using a novel electrochemical bioreactor. She currently works as a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. Her research interests include industrial biotechnology, bioprocessing and biorefinery development. More specifically, the refining and bioconversion of renewable resources for the production of value-added fractions, microbial oil and platform chemicals. Her research interest also includes the integration of electrochemical cell in the bioreactor for in situ production and separation of succinic acid from the fermentation broth.
