Ioannis Marios Iliopoulos (male, PhD candidate) holds a BSc in Chemistry (2022) from
University of Patras and an MSc in Food Science & Technology (2024) from Agricultural
University of Athens. His PhD thesis focuses on the development of a circular process for
poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) production using hydrolysates derived from enzymatic hydrolysis of
post-consumer bioplastics. His research interests concern industrial biotechnology, bioprocess
engineering, biorefinery development and plasma technology, with an emphasis on
sustainable production of bio-based products via microbial fermentations.
