Olga Vittou (female, PhD candidate) is a Biotechnologist with a BSc from the Department of Biotechnology at the Agricultural University of Athens (2020). Her research focuses on the utilization of agricultural residues of sugar beet cultivation and by-products of sugar production process for the production of biosynthetic and biodegradable materials. More specifically, she is working on the optimization of the biotechnological production of poly (3-hydroxy-butyrate) (PHB), and copolymer of 3-hydroxy-butyric acid and 3-hydroxy-valeric acid (PHBV) as main ingredients for food packaging materials. Her research innovation extends to electrofermentation exploring novel approaches to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the biotechnological production processes.
